The vast majority of people have it in them to become entrepreneurs, but simply don’t have the tools to achieve their financial dreams. Dream Toolbox is a guide to developing mental tools we can use to build wealth. It’s a book that would have been very useful to me when I started my business many years ago. Most people launching a business don’t have the opportunity to meet a successful entrepreneur who is willing to share nuts and bolts knowledge. Written by a self-made entrepreneur, the book is a must read for both young people just starting out and adults who have always had a dream to succeed but didn’t have a pragmatic, concrete road map to action. It provides a very frank discussion about the merits of education, the tools necessary to build wealth and the independence that wealth brings. It is written by someone who started out very poor in life, but whose belief in the power of self, the power of education and pure determination allowed him to achieve his dream of financial independence through entrepreneurial thinking. The book offers examples that are easy to understand and to which everyone can relate. It provides guidance on how one can define one’s dream and how one can change ones core beliefs to attain that dream. We learn that it’s critical to combat what the author calls the loop of failure thinking, and to avoid the mindset of victimization that can stop us cold in our journey to success. We learn that clarity of thought and purpose has power. Through the author’s experiences, we learn how we can shift our efforts from hope to powerful action. Some books on the market are purely motivational, but this book provides a real guide to starting a business, including how to notice what the author calls “the daily frictions of life” that enable us to identify opportunities for new products and services. It offers a practical approach to raising growth capital, and points out details that are important in a presentation to investors. The book also stresses that success in business in not a zero sum game. Others should benefit too. Included are lessons and examples of how really successful people surround themselves with others who have skills that we lack; that we can complement one another; that the skills we accumulate through education and life experiences are assets for building wealth. This book is terrific.
